Young Adult & Adult Therapy

At Danforth Psychology, we find that therapy often involves a balance between change and acceptance. While at times it is hard to know what to change and what to accept, we will be present with whatever comes up in session, provide a space for meaningful conversation and help you move towards awareness and solutions in the spaces where you might feel stuck. Some clients we work with know fairly clearly what they want to work on, while others come in with only the sense that 'something is not right'. We are open to beginning wherever we need to, in order to make progress.

We work well with a number of presenting challenges, including:

  • Social Anxiety

  • General Anxiety

  • OCD

  • Perfectionism

  • Panic disorders, phobias

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Borderline Personality

  • Depression

  • Relationship Challenges

  • Bipolar Disorders

  • Behavioural Issues

  • Emotion Regulation

  • Erectile Dysfunction

  • Grief

  • Gender Identity

  • Life Transitions

  • Parenting Issues

  • School and Academic

  • Sleep Issues

We work from a number of evidence-based therapy perspectives, and work with both adults and adolescents. This current page deals more with our adult work, click on the following if you are interested in reading more about our approach to teen/adolescent therapy.

Read through the therapy approaches to get a better sense of what focus might make sense for you. If you are still unsure of where you might fit after reading these brief descriptions, we will be happy to talk during the consultation phone call to discuss what might work best for you. Regardless of which focus is chosen, we often borrow from the other perspectives as seems fitting, and always focus on attachment, mindfulness, acceptance and trauma-informed strategies.

Therapy typically involves 50 minute weekly sessions, with the option of moving to biweekly sessions as appropriate. In special circumstances, we have also offered phone or private video conferencing services for people unable to leave their home due to mobility or illness limitations.
