Dietitian Services

How and what we choose to eat is often a very personal experience. The influences on our diets are numerous and we are bombarded with messages from social media, friends, colleagues, coaches, in-laws, holistic practitioners and “experts” from all walks of life. So why trust a Registered Dietitian?

In Ontario, Registered Dietitians:

  • are the only provincially-regulated nutrition specialists

  • are required to have University degrees in nutrition

  • complete hundreds of hours of supervised practical internship (like doctors, nurses, psychologists, etc), and pass a provincial licensing exam.

  • are required annually to demonstrate on-going education and safe practice

  • adhere to ethical guidelines and privacy legislation.

  • analyze scientific information, seek evidence-based approaches and translate research into easy-to-use practical information.

Elke Sengmueller RD is a weight-inclusive dietitian, meaning she focuses on supporting balanced enjoyable nutrition for physical and emotional health, and understands that healthy people come in a variety of shapes and sizes. As such, she does not provide weight loss counselling.

She uses a mindful approach to healthy eating, following a Health at Every Size philosophy (www.HAEScommunity.org), and principles of eating psychology.

Your treatment plan is individualized, based on your detailed health assessments and your reason for seeking assistance. Food is emphasized over supplementation whenever possible.
