Frequently Asked Questions

How do I book an appointment?

You can either call the office at (416) 668 3309, or email the clinic at intake@danforthpsychology.ca . For a faster response, often an email is more effective than leaving a voice message - though we appreciate sometimes it is easier to leave a voice message than to write an email.

We typically offer a 10 minute free phone consultation, wherein the clinician you speak with can get a sense of what the work might entail and can answer any specific questions you have ahead of booking an initial session in person.

What can I expect at the first session?

Each session is 50 minutes long. What to expect depends in part on whether you are seeking therapy or dietitian services, however in general, the first session is a time for your clinician to gather as much relevant information as they need to in order for you and they to create goals and begin putting together a strategy to meet those goals. You can expect your clinician to be punctual, to listen and to speak as honestly as they am able to about your situation.

We work both short and longer term depending on the need: shorter term being between 5 and 15 sessions, and longer term being whatever is clinically effective for the given needs and situation.

How long until I can be seen for a first appointment?

We try our best to see clients as soon as possible. We try to schedule sessions within a few weeks of their first reaching out to us, though this can also be closer to 2-3 months, waitlist dependent.

How do clients pay for sessions?

Most extended health care benefit plans cover at least a portion of the fees associated with psychological services and some dietitian services. We recommend you contact your insurance company to find out details and the amount of coverage. Clients otherwise pay with e-transfer, cash or cheque. E-transfers can be sent to payment@danforthpsychology.ca

Upon receiving payment for our session, we will provide you with a receipt which you can then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Note: OHIP does not cover psychological services.

What are your fees and cancellation policy?

Our fees for psychological, psychotherapeutic, and dietitian services are consistent with the fee structures suggested by our respective licensing bodies.

We require 24 hours notice for a cancellation. If you are not able to make the session, please advise your clinician at your earliest ability. Consistent with most private practices in Ontario, we will charge the full rate for any late-cancellations.

Note: Fees for psychological services are a tax-deductible medical expense.
