Brandon Hey, M.A.

Clinician

People have lots of different needs, but some seem to get priority over others. These days, we are quick to call the plumber, get the car’s oil changed or go and see our family doctor. Yet, at times it can be so challenging to go to therapy.

Regardless of your presenting issue, my approach is to try and create a trusting, therapeutic relationship; to work collaboratively; and to help ensure the realization of your treatment goals as much as I am able.

I am one of the few male-presenting Ph.D. candidates in clinical and counselling psychology at the University of Toronto. I have a masters degree (M.A.) in Community Psychology from Wilfred Laurier University. In addition, I have completed past graduate education in transcultural psychiatry (McGill University), neuroscience and psychology of mental health (King’s College London). I have worked at multiple treatment centers, including the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) Psychology Centre, the Centre for Interpersonal Relationships (CFIR), Step Stone Psychology and Fairmarc Psychology Centre.

I have training in different psychotherapy modalities (primarily emotionally-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy and relational/psychodynamic) as well as psychological assessment tools. This training has helped me to diagnosis and treat a variety of presenting concerns, including depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress, substance use, personality difficulties, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, specific learning disorders. I also have experience supporting clients through difficult life transitions, grief and loss, and relationship issues.

If you would like to consider working with me, I would encourage you to contact the clinic for more information or a consultation.
